Would you like experience creating a new museum archive?
The Quaker Tapestry Museum is looking for an archive assistant. This role will involve assisting the curatorial team with practical and administrative tasks relating to the creation of a new museum archive.
This role would especially suit someone who has a passion for history and wishes to learn about Quaker and local social history. No prior experience is required.
- Get hands-on experience working with archive materials
- Gain an insight into how museums are run, and how they create a formal archive
- Join a community of friendly people
Dates and Availability
This role would suit someone who can ideally commit to at least 2 hours per month for a minimum of 3 months. However, the Quaker Tapestry Museum can work flexibly to find a frequency and a duration that suits the individual volunteer’s needs.

350 years of social history and Quaker stories are brought to life in more than 40 vibrant embroidered panels, housed within this architecturally stunning and original Georgian Meeting House in the traditional Lakeland market town of Kendal.

Nb. This role could include carrying individual boxes of paper from location to another. However, the Quaker tapestry Museum is committed to accessibility so physical strength is not a requirement. The museum has step-free access and an accessible toilet.
