Multicultural Cumbria is looking for volunteers to assist asylum seekers to gain new skills which will help them participate in society. Teach basic IT skills, lead Conversational English groups and run arts and craft-based activities.

Skills and qualities
Please note that language is not a barrier for this role, but the ability to speak additional languages would be advantageous. Multicultural Cumbria is looking for at least one female volunteer to work with women from different cultural backgrounds. A DBS check, free-of-cost, will be required.

This is a regular volunteering opportunity. We can work flexibly with you to determine what days/hours would be of interest to you.
About the organisation
Multicultural Cumbria is a charity based in Carlisle that aims to empower individuals & groups from diaspora communities to embrace their culture and share it with friends & neighbours. They promote interaction within communities through four key programme areas: Culture, Education, Events, Health & Wellbeing. One of their key projects is the award-wining ‘Culture Bazaar’ – an annual multicultural event in Carlisle that averages 4,000 visitors over the February half-term weekend.
