Help create new digital experiences…
The Armitt: Museum, Gallery, Library are looking for volunteers to support them with digital developments. Each year The Armitt has a different digital project opportunity, this year’s project is:
Create a digital trail around Ambleside using objects from The Armitt’s collection.
Principle tasks include:
- Providing ideas and plans for digital content and developments
- Conducting research
- Supporting the creation of audio, video, photo or text-based content
- Volunteering as part of a team with other volunteers and staff
Develop your digital skills and meet new people while volunteering as part of a group. Your contributions will support the work of The Armitt and will be used to positively increase awareness and access to the museum and its collections.
Skills and qualities
You will need to attend an “Armitt Introduction” which will welcome you to The Armitt and provide some initial information on the role. This will be followed by arranging your first volunteering session which will become your “induction” – including site tour and staff meets.
In this role, we are looking for people who are willing to:
- Contribute ideas and suggestions towards projects aims and outputs
- Spend time using technology eg. computers, tablets, phones, cameras, recording devices
Dates and availability
This role is flexible as and when it relates to a project. We can work with you to determine how much support you can offer.
About the organisation
Full of interesting and unusual objects, The Armitt is a Museum, Gallery & Library that shares the history and heritage of Ambleside and its people. Founded by Mary Louisa Armitt in 1912, the Armitt is home to a varied collection of books, manuscripts, water-colours and archaeological remains, including Beatrix Potter’s fungi watercolours, Roman remains from the Ambleside fort, and Kurt Schwitters paintings.
