Through the story of tea children will learn about changes over time, the importance of inventions such as the railways and steam engines and the impact that had on Windermere,
Children will find out about the ecology of Windermere and the effects our actions can have on the environment and its habitats in this session.
Why do boats float? Children will conduct experiments to discover how boats stay afloat. They’ll learn about forces, hull design, different material properties and construct their own boat.
Children will learn about the museum’s historic vessels. They will explore what they were used for, the people who owned the boats, and then design and build their own bespoke
Children will explore Arthur Ransome’s classic stories of adventure on Windermere through our unique collection, and the landscape surrounding the museum, to create their own poem or story.
