This workshop is most suitable for teachers of Foundation stage and Key stage 1 children. Using handling objects and being inspired by the collection at Tullie House we will consider activities that support young children’s developing historical understanding. Helping them make sense of the world around them, develop simple chronology skills and begin to understand how things change over time.
Bring planning for a history session that works really well and one that you’d like to improve.

Taking children into an art gallery or museum often gives you a real understanding of their sometimes hidden knowledge and talents. We aim to show you how to support deeper thinking in your children by focusing on developing the skills of critical thinking and creativity using art and historical objects. Tullie House are hosting a Confucius exhibition and have a Confucius classroom on site, we will take the opportunity to learn in the exhibition.
